If you need an air quality assessment, I can’t recommend Dixon Environmental strongly enough. Mr. Dixon came to my apt. to perform air quality testing following a spraying of ground fiberglass I received by a handyman who had taken no containment precautions when removing a fiberglass tub. (I was not the one who selected the handyman; I am the tenant of an apt. with private landlord.)
Mr. Dixon’s expertise pointed up the existence not only of some fiberglass, after initial cleaning had been done, but more importantly, of molds.
His thorough examinations were impressive; coming from an investigative reporting background, it was clear that he was leaving no stone unturned in trying to get to the bottom of all issues and causative factors. I recommend Samuel to anyone who needs a swift, yet thorough and complete, evaluation of any particulate that might be causing health issues. And his prices are highly competitive and even lower than some other services I had queried. An all-around very helpful service.

Sam is very thorough, professional, careful and explained the entire process. He conducted air samples outside to compare them with the air samples found in the two rooms with mold. In both areas the mold was clearly visible and no surface test was performed as the wood and dry wall clearly needed to be removed.
He then sent a lengthy report, explaining what kind of mold was found, its intensity, and count. He also discussed the different kinds of mold with me. He returned post remediation and conducted air samples in both rooms. Using a lab with a rapid turn around time, he quickly let the contractor and myself know the mold was gone.
I was very happy with his work, especially his care in sampling, his willingness to discuss the process, and his professionalism. When it was over, I had mentioned something to him about being stressed. He sent me a lovely note, and some pointers on dealing with the stresses of house repairs. I would definitely recommend him and use him again. A very pleasant experience, with an expert.

We had a leak in a shower pipe inside a guest bathroom. We first planned to hire a mold remediation company only to treat the infected drywall. They discovered a second, mold source in the opposite bathroom that was affecting our neighbor’s wall as well as ours. It appeared to be a leaking shared pipe that consequently involved our HOA.
Unfortunately our HOA began to evade the possible responsibility of their pipe leaking. At this point we realized we would like a third party professional to document and verify the condition, locate the source of the mold, tell us what kind of mold we were dealing with, and finally to be able to conduct the pass clearance test for future use. This was when we hired Samuel Dixon, environmental specialist. He was available the same day, although we agreed on meeting the next morning.
He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and methodically thorough. He did a visual investigation with photo documentation which was a lengthy inspection. He was able to tell me his findings on the spot- that the two mold situations were independent of each other based on mold growth pattern and that the bigger mold situation had begun a long time ago. He also determined where the source of the leak was which he recommended I have a plumber look at as well. And finally he performed all the air samples.
His entire consultation took about two hours. 48 hours later I received my invoice, my lab results, and his professional report all in one convenient email in digital pdf form.
After the plumbing was complete he returned to do the final pass clearance test and also at that time checked the air humidity and areas of moisture concern that I pointed out.
His findings were congruent with the findings of the mold remediation company and the plumber which indicates to me that he was on the mark. Also included in his investigation was a survey of the whole interior and exterior of the house so I received personalized recommendations of areas I should beware of possible moisture problems. I would never have noticed those areas for myself.
Overall I feel it was wise to hire a mold inspector and I was pleasantly surprised to receive back a lot more info than I was expecting. I would recommend Mr. Dixon to anyone.
